Saturday 1st October saw the return of the masters swimming competitions in Wiltshire. Normally these are held over three different Saturday afternoons across the year, but this year it was held as one single sprint meet, offering 50m races in each stroke, 100m in freestyle and IM, and two mixed relays.

Stingrays Stingrays came third overall out of eleven teams, with only Chippenham and Tigersharks scoring more points. Pippa Carter, by entering five of the six events, scored the most points for the team, and went home with five medals to show for it. Special congratulations to Anna, Andrew, and Sara who had never raced for Stingrays before, and to Jez and Josh who hurried back to Salisbury to also compete in the club championships on Saturday evening.

Like other swimming competitions, masters events rely on the availability of officials and it was only the last minute arrival of some extra officials that saved the swimmers themselves from having to time in the next heat. If anyone is interested in swimming or officiating at some masters events, please get in touch! These events take place in a relaxed environment and are great fun.
