Competitions are now coming thick and fast, and last weekend saw our second Level 3 meet in a row with many of our swimmers taking part in the Trowbridge meet.

Despite many of our swimmers only swimming last weekend, there were some more fantastic swims from all those who took part and lots more PB’s.   Over the weekend we had 29 swimmers competing in 153 races. There were 86 Personal Best times and another 30 swims within 1 second of the PB’s. This also included lots more County times (and a couple of Regional times) being achieved.

Stingrays swimmers kept the medal desk busy on both days and in total the team won 57 Gold medals, 32 Silver medal and 24 Bronze medals. In some of the events Salisbury won gold in every age group that we had swimmers in, which was a fantastic performance.

All swimmers continue to perform their warm up plans well and they are now getting used to the race plans for the various distances. Seeing these put in place throughout the weekend was really pleasing and despite a couple of unfortunate DQ’s the race skills in general were executed to a really good standard.

To produce these great swims in back-to-back meets reflects the training effort put in by the swimmers and it’s nice to see their hard work and dedication paying off.

I would like to say a big thank you to Coach James who assisted on poolside all weekend and to Jon, Rashan, and Amanda as team managers for their hard work in getting the swimmers to their races on time. Behaviour on poolside was again exemplary through the whole weekend, and the team spirit showed by all swimmers was fantastic. We now just need a few more swimmers to learn how to do the Macarena or a Michael Jackson routine to be competitive in the mid-session breaks!!!!
