Counties Age Group weekend 3 – 800’s report

The third weekend of the Wiltshire County Championships saw the 800’s being held at Marlborough college. We only had four swimmers competing, but all swam well gaining 3 personal best times and winning 3 medals.

There was limited warm up time, but all swimmers managed to get their warms ups completed and swam their pre-race prep sets well and to the planned times.

Erin was first up, and she swam a well-paced race, picking up her tempo mid race and finishing well to gain nearly a 20 second pb and win the bronze medal in the 13 years age group.

Next were Ethan H and Georgie in the same heat who both went out on race plan pace. Ethan managed to maintain this throughout and finished with a 22 second pb, finishing second fastest 16-year-old and 5th in the open age group. Georgie maintained a consistent pace throughout and won the bronze medal in the girls 15 years age group.

The last heat saw Theo competing as the only 16-year-old in the final heat. He went out really fast completing the first 100m in under a minute. Theo managed to hold his pace throughout the race which saw nothing between the first three swimmers until the last 50m. Theo finished with a 15 second pb and won the bronze medal in the open age group.
