Head Coach

I started swimming when I was 4 years old for my local club in Liverpool. Starting to compete at age 9 in various leagues and competitions, i begun teaching within the learner programme and then coaching the squad at 14.  I developed a passion for swimming.  I obtained my Level 1 Teaching Swimming qualification when I was 16 and my Level 2 when i was 17.  During my A-Levels I acheived the NPLQ and was a Lifeguard for 2 years.  When i was 17 I ran a 2-week summer talent identification camp for those with potential in the Council’s Learn to Swim programme.  This proved very successful with 3 swimmers subsequently joining the swimming club, and going on to the City of Liverpool squad.  One of these swimmers is now ranked nationally in the top 10 for Breaststroke at aged 13.

Moving away to Stoke-on-Trent for University, i graduated with a 1st class degree in Sport Development with Coaching.  During my time at Staffordshire University I joined the swim team and went to BUSA Nationals.  I also joined the Basketball squad and was Chairperson in my final year.  I also recieved my Level 1 Basketball Coach award in my 2nd year.

In the summer of my 1st and 2nd years at University  I went to the USA with Camp America and was in charge of the running of the pool in my second year.  I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to everyone.  A truly inspirational time.

After graduation I moved to Coventry and was Junior Development coach with the City of Coventry.  I also volunteered as Assistant coach for the Elite squads, and learnt a lot from Director of Swimming, Jo Deakins, herself an ex-Olympian.

Joining Salisbury Stingrays in October 2008, i thoroughly relished the opportunity and it paid off at Wiltshire Counties in 2009 with many qualifiers and several Champions, including the Mens 4x50m Freestyle Relay team.  2009 continued with great success as both Adam Davidson and Phil Muspratt qualifying for Nationals in August.  I would like to thank all swimmers for making me feel welcome and I congratulate all on your great efforts and hope to continue this fantastic success.

I started in my teens with swimming and water polo for Salisbury at the open air pool. I then went on to other sports, 1) becoming British Champion, Instructor and Refereeing up to British Championships in one and 2) competing in national league and championships and instruction of beginners in another.  Returned to swimming, when my sons learned to swim with the club over 10 years ago and I have acquired the ASA qualifications and now spend over 20 hours per week teaching and coaching from stage 1 to Adult coaching, Flip and Fun, Rookie Lifeguard (with my NPLQ) and Aquafit.
