Every Great Club Needs Great Volunteers

Give a little time. Make a big difference.

Salisbury Stingrays exists because people give a little of their time to support our swimmers and the wider club.

We are a charity run by volunteers. Whether you can help every week, once a month or only at an occasional competition, your contribution can make a real difference.

You do not need previous experience. We are an extremely friendly and supportive group, and we will help you find a role that suits your interests, skills and availability.

Every Contribution Helps

You do not have to make a major commitment. An hour of help, an occasional event or a small task behind the scenes can all make a valuable difference.

No Experience Needed

New volunteers are welcomed and supported. We can pair you with someone experienced, explain the role and help you gain confidence at your own pace.

Learn New Skills

Volunteering can lead to training as a Team Manager, swimming official or other recognised role, while developing useful skills and confidence.

Get Involved

Volunteers form the backbone and heart of the Swim England community. They support clubs, events and programmes across the country and help ensure that aquatic sport continues to grow and thrive.

Volunteering is hugely rewarding. It is a great way to develop yourself and others, meet new people, become more involved in your local community and give something back.

There are many different roles available, whether you want to volunteer regularly or only now and then. Some roles require no formal training, while others can lead to recognised qualifications and opportunities to become involved in regional or national events.

You may even find yourself helping at a major competition and meeting some of your sporting heroes.

Ways You Can Help

There are opportunities to help poolside, at competitions and behind the scenes. We can help you find something that suits the time you have available.

Timekeeping and Officiating

Help competitions run fairly and smoothly. Training and mentoring are available for anyone interested in becoming a qualified official.

Team Management

Support swimmers at galas and competitions, helping them stay organised, informed and ready for their races.

Poolside and Event Support

Help with marshalling, meet-and-greet, results, medals, refreshments, equipment, set-up or other practical event tasks.

Fundraising and Social Events

Help organise raffles, fundraising activities, social events or other initiatives that support the club and bring people together.

Administration and Communications

Use your organisational, technical, creative or communication skills to help with the many tasks that keep the club running.

Occasional Help

Not ready for a regular role? Extra helpers are always welcome at busy events, even when availability is uncertain until the day.

Volunteering at Salisbury Stingrays

Salisbury Stingrays Swimming Club is a charity run by volunteers. Polly coordinates and supports our volunteer community and will help you find a suitable way to get involved.

We are an extremely friendly group and enjoy being part of our children’s swimming journey. New volunteers are supported throughout, including access to Team Manager or officials training where appropriate.

Even if you can offer only a small amount of time, or can help only occasionally, you will be very welcome. There is nearly always something useful you can do.

At swimming competitions and club events, volunteer roles may include:

  • Poolside set-up and equipment.
  • Marshalling swimmers before races.
  • Meet-and-greet and entry-table support.
  • Results recording and posting.
  • Medal-table assistance.
  • Refreshments, raffle and fundraising support.
  • Runners and general event helpers.

Do not worry if you are unsure or nervous about helping for the first time. We can explain the task and pair you with an experienced volunteer.
