Salisbury Stingrays exists because people give a little of their time to support our swimmers and the wider club.
We are a charity run by volunteers. Whether you can help every week, once a month or only at an occasional competition, your contribution can make a real difference.
You do not need previous experience. We are a friendly and supportive community and will help you find a role that suits your interests, skills and availability.
Get Involved
- Be Part of Something Important Volunteers form the backbone and heart of the Swim England community. They help clubs, events and aquatic programmes continue to grow and thrive.
- Meet People and Give Something Back Volunteering is a rewarding way to meet new people, become more involved in your local community and contribute directly to the experiences of our swimmers.
- Help as Much or as Little as You Can There are opportunities for regular volunteers and for people who can help only occasionally. Even a small amount of time can make a worthwhile difference.
- Develop New Skills Some roles require no formal training, while others can lead to recognised qualifications and opportunities to support larger regional or national events.

Ways You Can Help
There are opportunities to help poolside, at competitions and behind the scenes. We can help you find something that suits the time you have available.
Timekeeping and Officiating
Help competitions run fairly and smoothly. Training and mentoring are available for anyone interested in becoming a qualified official.
Team Management
Support swimmers at galas and competitions, helping them stay organised, informed and ready for their races.
Poolside and Event Support
Help with marshalling, results, medals, refreshments, equipment, meet-and-greet, set-up or other practical tasks.
Fundraising and Social Events
Help organise raffles, fundraising activities and social events that support the club and bring people together.
Administration and Communications
Use your organisational, technical, creative or communication skills to help with the many tasks that keep the club running.
Occasional Help
Not ready for a regular role? Extra helpers are always welcome at busy events, even if you cannot confirm your availability until nearer the day.
Never Volunteered Before?
Please do not worry. Many roles require no previous experience, and you will not be expected to take on anything you are uncomfortable doing.
We can explain the task, introduce you to the team and pair you with an experienced volunteer. You can start with something small and become more involved only if and when you want to.
Helping at Competitions
Our open meets, club championships and other events depend on volunteers working together to keep everything running safely, fairly and on time. There are roles to suit different interests, levels of experience and amounts of available time.

Comfortable poolside clothing and suitable footwear are normally all that is needed unless you are acting as an official.
What to Bring
Bring a reusable water bottle and your Stingrays top if you have one. Poolside can become very warm.
