On a beautiful day in August six swimmers from Salisbury Stingrays Masters recently took part in the annual Pier to Pier swim from Bournemouth to Boscombe. Organised and in aid of The British Heart Foundation, the swim which is approx 2km is the largest charity open water event in Europe attracting some 2000 swimmers each year raising crucial funds for research.
Pictured from left: Cerian Trevan, Helen Carter, David Bigglestone, Lesley Maynard, Liz latter and Pippa Carter.
Not that it was a race, but Pippa finished 1st in 42.07 followed closely by Cerian (42.34), Helen (43.53), Liz (53.30) Lesley (58.34) and despite his long right arm reach, official jellyfish spotter (8!) David (62.11)

Will Collings-Wells is part of a cross channel relay team which is called ‘Shore to Shore’.
Report by Will on how it went – congratulations to him and his team.
The swim on the 8th started at 09:20 from Samphire Beach. We give the on-board
observer the order we swim in and cannot change it (six swimmers). We each swim
an hour and repeat the order until we reach France. I was third. It took 12 hours
and 44mins. The conditions were a little choppy but ok. The last three swimmers
swam in the dark. This didn’t include me. We were beginning to repeat the order
the third time when the first swimmer arrived in France climbed out onto some
rocks at 22:04 to be clear of the water.
