Salisbury Stingrays Learn to Swim News

Re-booking dates
Re-booking your child’s swimming session for next term will be on the following dates:

13/14TH JULY 2008 and
20/21st JULY 2008 AT FIVE RIVERS
24TH JULY AT GODOLPHIN POOL.

The cost for next term will be £42 per swimmer.  This includes the cost of their badge and certificate.  Please make cheques payable to SALISBURY STINGRAYS ASC.  We prefer Cheques instead of cash if possible.

Please could you ensure your child has a swimming hat and goggles for their lessons even in the learner pool.  It makes it much easier for them to learn to swim!

Membership of Club
We are gradually building closer links between the various sections of Salisbury Stingrays and are keen to create more sense of belonging to a club.   As a step in this direction, we will be introducing formal membership of the club.  There will be an annual membership subscription, which is separate from any swimming fees.  All members will receive a club cap as a sign of membership.  We will provide regular newsletters to keep you in touch with events, successes and benefits for members.

The membership year will follow the swimming season (and our financial year) starting in September.  Rates will be as follows:

Individual rate                          £10
Family rate (3+ members)           £25

We will start collecting membership subscription at the same time as re-booking for next term.

Head Coach recruitment
We are in the process of recruiting a new professional coach for the club. We expect the new coach to be taking more responsibility for supporting our team of volunteer teachers, and ensuring the quality of teaching is consistently high. We hope that you will start seeing the benefits of this next term.

Changes to committee elections
We have an increasing number of individuals working for in club officer’s roles, which is great news.   To date, all club officers have been treated as members of the committee.  Whilst this is inclusive, it makes meetings rather large, and ineffective for decision-making.

Our constitution requires us to have 11 committee members, 4 of whom form the executive.  At our next AGM in October, we plan to have specific elections for the remaining 7 committee members.  We will continue to elect club officers, and all officers will be eligible to stand for election to the committee.  The committee will be responsible for the decision-making required to manage the club.

Open Meetings
After the AGM, termly meetings will be held to update club officers (and other interested members) on club news.  This will also provide a forum for raising concerns with the committee.

Fundraising
We are holding a bag-packing event on
5th July at Amesbury Co-op!   Funds raised will go towards new club equipment, including floats and toys for the Learn to Swim sections.  Please put you name down in the clubroom if you can help on the day.

Term Dates
Last lessons will be 20th, 21st & 24th July.  We will return on 7th, 8th & 11th September.
Half Term will be 26th, 27th and 30th October.

Please keep talking to us about any questions, suggestions or concern.   We hope your children continue to enjoy learning to swim with Salisbury Stingrays.
