Two swimmers from Salisbury Stingrays played a major part in helping the Wiltshire County Squad win Division Two of the ASA National County Championships last weekend.

Rising stars Adam Davidson and Gabriella Pountney, joined the 25-man squad for the last meet of the season, which was held at Sheffield's Ponds Forge Swimming Centre.

Coming into the event, Wiltshire were second in the table and had to ensure they gained more points at the gala than table-toppers Leicestershire to stand any chance of winning the championship, and with it, promotion to county swimming's top flight.

Impressive swims from the Salisbury pair - Adam finished fourth in the 00m breaststoke, in a time 5 seonds under his previous personal best, and Gabby's breaststroke leg helped the medley relay team to a fourth place finish - saw Wiltshire overhaul their rivals lead and take the title in a tense finale.

A spokesman for Wiltshire ASA said; "Every swimmer the team gave 100% and the team spirit and camarderie were fantasic.   Congratulations go out to every single swimmer on the team. Wiltshire should look forward with pride to competing in Division One."
